If Ballerinas Wore Sandals...

I imagine they would look something like this. Aren't they pretty?

Sseko is such a lovable company, doing something great for the world and making something beautiful for us all. After discovering them on Pinterest I was so pleased to discover that while the company is based in Uganda, they also have an office right here in my home town of Portland.

Their sandals are all made in Uganda and the company aims to provide educational opportunities to exceptional African women, giving college-bound students a chance to earn money towards their continuing education.

Check out Sseko's wonderful story and mission on their site, visit their online store, and then hop over to their Facebook page to follow their inspiring adventures.

Oh, and in case you didn't notice yet, the sandals they make are amazingly cool! They can be tied in countless ways and the collection includes a wonderful array of different laces that provide all kinds of different looks from nautical stripes, snakeskin prints, and my current favorite, the new metallics as shown above which come in several colors.
