Small Trades T-Shirts

You'd think fit wouldn't enter into things much when it comes to t-shirts once you separate the boxy beefy tees from the slim-fits but unfortunately it gets much harder than that. Different cotton knits have different weights to them, different amounts of stretch, and drape differently. And then you get manufacturers that make things too, too long, too, too short, arm holes that act like sausage casings, shoulder seams that are cut too narrow or too loose. See? See how many things can go wrong?

I think I may have found the holy grail of perfect t-shirts here though from Small Trades. The fabric is light and somewhat drapey with rows of ribbing that allows it to stretch just right. A feel-good bonus--they are made in a family owned US factory that's been in operation since 1907.

They have a really great selection over at Pretty Mommy...

I got a grey boatneck Small Trades tee at Alder & Co not long after they opened. Sadly, they don't seem to carry them any longer, but I love Small Trades and wish they were more available.
