I've been loving you a long time
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways
We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways
We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell

I think we're all pretty much made by the age of 18 and The Pogues made me. Sometimes I think about all the ingredients that made me who I am: I'm 2% Wet n Wild #666 lipliner, 12% Frank's Wild Years, 2% henna, 5% In Watermelon Sugar, 4% vintage cowboy boots with holes in the soles that gave me chilblains after hanging out on the park swings too long in the Winter while talking to my best friend, 6% Henry and June, 1% Franny and Zooey, 1% Bessie Smith, 12% The Collected Letters of Dylan Thomas, 4% periwinkle 40's dress with a ripped hem, 5% Wings of Desire, 6% Egon Schiele, 2% amber resin, 23% coffee, and 15% Pogues.
These things are all still in my DNA even though the Egon Schiel prints are gone, I no longer wear cowboy boots every day, and making this list reminds me how great a scratchy Bessie Smith record sounds. I still use henna and the Wet n Wild lipliner and I'm still listening to The Pogues.
What are you made of?

The Pogues for sure, with an equal amount of Talking Heads. Nice post.
Thanks! Always happy to meet a fellow Pogues lover. I've been talking about doing a Pogues-inspired photo shoot forever and I think this might be the year. Stay tuned!
