This Might Actually Get Me Sewing Again...

With the motto "Keep it simple and do it well" the British pattern and sewing company Merchant & Mills seems to be doing just that. They're offering the most beautifully packages notions (I didn't know I could swoon over tailor's chalk), English-tailor-style patterns that come in a tube and are printed on rigid paper (no cutting required!), materials to make your own waxed cotton bags with leather handles, and exquisitely fine fabrics. While the notions look like they could come out of a Jane Austin character's sewing basket, these are not reproductions of vintage patterns, but simple and timeless styles.

"Our philosophy is: buy once – quality will be remembered long after the price is forgotten."

The whole ethos of this company reminds me of my beloved Old Town Clothing and has me inspired to bust out my rejected sewing machine which has served a long banishment to the basement.
