This interview from Fischer designer Kristina Angelozzi is a great read. I laughed (when learning her personal motto), I cried (about the loss of her beloved tiger swimsuit), and I'm on the edge of my seat over her big news for Fischer (read on!).

Place of birth:
Towson, MD about 20 minutes north of Baltimore. I have to say, Baltimore rules. I definitely plan to get back there someday. It's all John Waters makes it out to be.
Where did you grow up? What was it like?
We moved out west of 'The City' (Baltimore) to Carroll County (we lovingly refer to it as "Cow County") It's a lot of farms and sprawl. The good thing was we had woods to get lost in and lots of good thrift stores.
How long have you been designing your collection?
It'll be 3 years in October.
How did you get into it?
I studied fashion in college and have been working for larger (corporate) companies in NYC for about 10 years. After quitting a pretty toxic job, I started Fischer. It was a little therapeutic at the time to just work on my own collection making exactly whatever I wanted.
What’s your work space like?
Half my bedroom, parts of the living room and sometimes the kitchen. Of course I'd love to get a proper workspace, hopefully that'll happen soon!
What kind of work routines do you have?
Probably not enough. I'm always doing a little bit of everything. It's like every other day I'm putting out a fire.
Are there references in art, nature, literature, film that influence your work?
Definitely. I pull color direction and mood from art, film or music all the time. Environments and travel influence styling. I'm just wrapping up Spring 2013 and my biggest influence was 'Moonrise Kingdom'. Every detail of that movie was perfect.
What’s your favorite part of your work and your least favorite?
I love the research and design. The other 95% (production, accounting, schlepping) is definitely not fun.
You've recently designed exclusive styles for Two Inch Cuffs and Need Supply. Can you tell us more about those collaborations and do you have any more exclusives coming down the hatch?
All I can say is good, good things about both companies. Both of the buyers are really rad dudes (with great taste) who I really admire and respect. I'm super lucky to get the chance to work with such talented folks and make cool things!
I have two really exciting collaborations in work- I'm designing uniforms for Ovenly, a bakery down the street from where I live. They make the best scones and cookies in the world. Anyway, the two girls that run the shop are awesome- and it's cool to design something functional and cute for them!
Lastly, I'm working on a special mens edition for another retailer- I should probably keep a little quieter about... But it'll be out in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
What do you do when you play hooky?
Wikipedia surfing. Thrift shopping. Trivia nights.
Outside of your work, what is your main interest or hobby?
I love cooking, baking and traveling. I'm also a total gamer. I love playing cards and board games!
What’s your favorite item of clothing?
I recently lost my most prized Tiger swimsuit. It was a one piece I got like, 8 years ago with a photo-real Tiger face covering the entire front. The day I realized it was missing, I was meeting a friend at the pool. When I got there (in some other not as cool swimsuit) there was a 4 year old girl with pretty much the same swimsuit standing right behind us in line. It stung.
Favorite authors?
I read mostly non-fiction, for some reason I particularly like biographies. Otherwise I go for the classics- Oscar Wilde, Hemingway, etc. The Sun Also Rises was my most recent favorite.
Do you have a favorite quote, motto, mantra or inspirational song?
"Measure twice, cut once"
What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid?
I don't remember if I had that much of a career plan. I do remember telling my dad (around the age of 7) that I wanted to live in a mobile home so I could move around. He was fine with it.
How do you imagine your old age?
I'm hoping to retire into making Ren Fest and animal costumes. I think I could get really into that.
What are you wearing?
A tank I made a few years ago out of a really amazing ikat fabric I found at the housing works warehouse sale in Queens, Built by Wendy pants, Species x Thousands earrings.
What’s your favorite place on earth?
Amsterdam, hands down. It's the cutest place I've ever been.
Have you been told you look like someone famous?
Punky Brewster
Favorite gift you ever received?
Taxidermied Squirrel. (all 5 of them)
If I gave you a million dollars to donate to a cause what would you choose?
Cancer Research. It's pretty much the worst evil there is.
What’s your favorite film for costume?
Most recently, Moonrise Kingdom.
