I really love the hand-made shoes from Beatrice Valenzuela--they are all designed in LA and made in Mexico and are offered in earthy browns but also some exuberant colors. I think these orange high-top moccasins would be the perfect house shoes for me. And the back and tongue can be folded over for a short moccasin look so it's like getting two pairs of shoes in one.
Is it weird to wear "house shoes"? I usually wear a pair of red German felted wool clogs with rubber soles. Please tell me I'm not alone. I'm also a big fan of "house clothes" which in my mind are a step up from pajamas--things you can feel comfortable and loungy in but will not put you in a panic if an unexpected visitor decides to pop by.

Oh boy, I left a long comment but for some reason it did not post. So in short. I hope it's not weird. I do the same thing! I also have specific clothes for specific things. For example a bathrobe for the bath, and then a robe for the bedroom to wear over pajamas and such. I also have slippers and then house shoes. My hubby makes fun of me, but I like to think of it as being traditional/old timey. I love the idea that women used to have clothes for every occasion. I know that my grandmother even had special driving slippers and gloves. : )
Wow, I feel better now ;) A separate robe for bathtime AND bedtime and not just house shoes but also slippers. Awesome! Ok, I'm going to run with it.
My specialized clothes mostly center around "dog park" but I also get really into my gardening clothes--I usually wear overalls and a bandana and a fair isle sweater in the winter. Not quite as romantic as your grandmother's driving slippers and gloves. Love the sound of that.
Classic. I love that overalls and a bandana : ) I wish I could garden with you. Though, we did start a little indoor herb garden. I hope that this summer I can grow some strawberries on our little balcony. Oh and I'm loving your gardening photos!
It's amazing what you can grow on windowsills and balconies. I hope you get your strawberries--how fun it would be to go nibble on berries while you're drinking your morning coffee!
