Images from Rowan Magazine #4, 1988
I have a soft spot for women in man-sized sweaters. I know a lot of younger people aren't comfortable with this silhouette, finding it frumpy, but having come of age in the late 80's and early 90's it looks just right to me.
The images above are from the British knitwear company Rowan, which has been publishing their gorgeous catalogs since the 80's. I'm not a knitter but my Mom is and so I grew up with these images--few things have been as influential on my work as a stylist as Rowan and particularly Karen Harrison (who is still doing styling for Toast which thrills me to no end).
I'm so happy to see some oversized knitwear being offered this season. I just wish things were even a little bit bigger. So refreshing to see some new shapes though...
